San Miguel de Allende

About Centro
Centro is the historic core of San Miguel de Allende, the UNESCO-listed colonial center laid out around the Jardín Principal and the Parroquia de San Miguel Arcángel. Streets are cobblestone, facades are painted in ochre, rust and rose, and most daily errands can be done on foot.
Housing here is the widest mix in town: restored colonial homes built around courtyards, casitas tucked behind garden walls, upper-floor apartments with rooftop terraces, and the occasional lot or commercial building. Finish quality and lot size vary block by block, so two homes a few doors apart can sit at very different price points.
Centro is the right fit when being in the middle of it all matters more than parking or quiet. Buyers who want a lock-and-leave base or a home they can walk from to dinner usually start their search here.

FAQ
Yes. Centro is the compact historic center and most of its streets are within a short walk of the Jardín Principal. Expect cobblestones and some hills, so comfortable shoes matter more than a car.
Mostly restored colonial houses built around courtyards, along with apartments, casitas and some commercial buildings. Lots are modest and outdoor space usually comes as a patio or a roof terrace rather than a yard.
Some homes include a garage or an interior parking space, and many do not. If a car is part of your plan, make covered parking a filter early in the search.
